Sparkling through autumn: recipe for warm kombucha cider

We have put together an autumnal kombucha cider recipe for cozy, snug days. The combination of apple cider, spicy ginger, cinnamon, cloves and fruity kombucha creates an aromatic drink that is perfect for autumn and winter. Whether for a cozy evening at home or as a special drink for guests – this autumnal kombucha drink brings seasonal aromas to the glass.

What you need:

Recipe for 6 people

  • 2 large cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon allspice
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • 2 small pieces of ginger
  • 1 cup dried apples (alternatively 2 fresh, chopped apples)
  • ½ cup cranberries
  • Zest of one organic orange
  • 1 liter Kombucha Original
  • 1 liter apple cider

And off you go with the preparation:

  1. Add the apple cider, apples, cranberries, ginger pieces, orange zest, cloves and allspice to a pot.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil. Then reduce the heat and let the liquid simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes so that the flavors of the spices can develop.
  3. Remove the pot from the stove and let the liquid cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the spices and fruit pieces with a sieve, depending on the desired consistency.
  5. Stir the kombucha into the liquid. If you want to serve the drink warm, heat it gently and avoid boiling it further. Please note that heat can affect the live cultures in the kombucha.
  6. Pour the finished kombucha cider into heat-resistant glasses and decorate with a cinnamon stick if desired.

Mmm, your aromatic autumnal kombucha drink is ready! Enjoy the fruity combination of apple, winter spices and kombucha on cozy autumn and winter evenings.

The most important things about the kombucha cider recipe at a glance

This autumnal kombucha drink combines apple cider with Kombucha Original, fruity apples, cranberries and aromatic spices. Preparation takes about 30 minutes plus a short cooling time. You can serve the drink warm or let it cool and enjoy it as a fruity autumn drink. If the live cultures in the unpasteurized kombucha are important to you, add it only after heating the other ingredients and avoid high temperatures.

Frequently asked questions about kombucha cider

Can you drink kombucha warm?

Yes, kombucha can also be used in warm drinks. However, if it is heated strongly or boiled, heat-sensitive live microorganisms may be inactivated. If you want to preserve them as much as possible, add the kombucha only when the other liquid has cooled down a little.

Which kombucha is suitable for this autumn recipe?

For this recipe we use Kombucha Original. Its characteristic tart-fruity flavor harmonizes well with apple cider, cinnamon, ginger and other spices. Depending on your taste, you can also try another kombucha flavor.

Can I prepare the kombucha cider without alcohol?

This depends on the apple cider and kombucha used. Depending on the product, apple cider can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Kombucha can also contain small amounts of alcohol. If you want to prepare an alcohol-free drink, choose an expressly non-alcoholic apple cider and check the information on the alcohol content of the kombucha. An absolute guarantee of alcohol-free or non-alcoholic status cannot be derived from the recipe alone.

Can I prepare the autumn drink in advance?

You can prepare the apple cider and spice mixture in advance and let it cool. Then store it covered in the refrigerator. Add the kombucha only shortly before serving and follow the storage instructions of the products used.

What other spices go well with warm kombucha cider?

In addition to cinnamon, cloves, allspice and ginger, star anise or a small pinch of cardamom also work well. Start with small amounts so that the spices do not overpower the fruity flavor of the apple and kombucha.
