Our new Kombucha refreshes gently
Our new variety Kombucha Mate combines a lightly smoky mate flavor with pleasantly sweet and sour kombucha. This tea from South America has a long tradition and is valued for its beneficial effects on the body. This is because mate tea combines the various positive properties of antioxidants, theobromine, and caffeine. Mate tea is the perfect coffee alternative that gently wakes you up and allows you to start your day energized.
How is mate tea traditionally prepared and drunk?
Mate tea is made from an infusion of dried leaves from the mate shrub (Ilex paraguariensis). Strictly speaking, it is not a true tea, as it does not come from the genus of the tea plant Camellia Sinensis. The mate plant is mainly cultivated in Southern Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay and is an integral part of people's daily lives there. The crushed leaves of the mate shrub (also called Yerba) are steeped in cold or hot water and drunk from a calabash (also called Matí). A special drinking straw with a small integrated sieve is traditionally used for drinking from the small, bulbous vessel. This prevents the mate leaves from being consumed, and the tea can even be re-steeped several times. In Brazil, however, the mate leaves are finely ground and called Erva Mate.

And here's how you can prepare warm mate tea yourself:
- First, fill the calabash halfway with mate leaves.
- Cover the opening of the calabash with your flat hand and then turn it upside down. Shake it gently back and forth. This allows the coarser leaves to separate from the finer ones.
- Then press the mate leaves firmly against the inner rim of the calabash with some warm water.
- After you have inserted the drinking straw into the calabash and the leaves have swollen, slowly pour warm water (approx. 70 °C) into the rest of the vessel.
- Now let everything steep for 2-3 minutes, and the tea is ready to drink.
Mate tea as a healthy coffee alternative!
The morning cup of coffee is an indispensable part of our daily lives and reliably provides the necessary energy boost we need to start the day. However, when this effect wears off, some people experience an unpleasant feeling, discomfort, and sometimes even dizziness. Mate tea offers the perfect alternative for people who struggle with these symptoms. The caffeine content is not as high, yet it still provides a good wake-up effect. The caffeine content in mate tea is balanced by the presence of theobromine and theophylline. Furthermore, Yerba Mate tea boasts many positive properties. In addition to polyphenols, the tea contains vitamins A, B1, B2, and C, and significantly more antioxidants than green tea. It stimulates digestion and can have anti-inflammatory effects and possesses antibacterial properties. Not only is the aging process said to be inhibited by regular consumption of mate tea, but also appetite. So it's also the perfect companion in a healthy diet.

Pay attention to the origin of mate tea
Important! It's best to only drink 100% organic mate tea. This is free from pollutants that can occur in non-organic mate tea. Unhealthy hydrocarbons can form during the drying and roasting of mate leaves over fire. You can also rule out harmful pesticides in mate tea by choosing organic quality.
