The fermented tea drink as a thirst-quenching summer drink

Refreshing summer drinks don't have to be complicated

Summer is showing its best side and we are slowly melting away. A good reason to spice up your kombucha a bit and mix delicious additional flavors into your summer drinks. Whether fruity, spicy, or as a cocktail: kombucha can be combined in many ways. Your imagination is the only limit when it comes to flavor. We have created four special kombucha summer drinks for you and wish you lots of fun mixing and enjoying them!

Sweet Beet

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 4 cm peeled and finely chopped ginger
  • 300 ml natural Kombucha
  • 100 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 100 ml carrot juice
  • 100 ml beetroot juice
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

And here's how to mix it:

Blend all the ingredients together for about 15 seconds. Your fruity and spicy kombucha summer drink is ready. Pour it into two glasses and serve with ice cubes if desired.

Tip: If you prefer a milder ginger flavor, use less ginger at first and taste your way up to your preferred level of spiciness.

Berry Lemonade Smoothie

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 200 ml natural kombucha
  • 200 ml organic lemonade
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Fresh mint for garnish

And here's how to mix it:

For this delicious drink, you need a powerful blender. Add the kombucha and the other ingredients to the blender and blend until a creamy, cool berry smoothie has formed. Then garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve immediately.

Tip: The frozen blueberries ensure a particularly cool consistency. If the smoothie is too thick for you, you can add a little more kombucha.

Spicy Summer

Perfect for hot afternoons when you fancy a spicy kombucha drink with turmeric and cayenne pepper. This summery kombucha mix combines the tart note of the fermented tea drink with a pleasant spiciness.

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 400 ml natural kombucha
  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 slices of cucumber

And here's how to mix it:

Carefully mix the kombucha with turmeric and cayenne pepper. Then pour into two glasses with ice cubes. Garnish with one cucumber slice each, and your spicy, fresh summer drink is ready!

Tip: Cayenne pepper is quite spicy. If you prefer it milder, start with a smaller amount and season the drink to taste.

Ginger Kombucha Mule

Kombucha can also be mixed with alcohol to make a cocktail and brings a fruity, tart note to the glass. For our Ginger Kombucha Mule, we use our ginger kombucha. This version contains vodka and is therefore an alcoholic cocktail.

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 200 to 400 ml Ginger Kombucha
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 12 cl vodka
  • 6 slices of cucumber
  • Mint
  • Ice cubes

And here's how to mix it:

Add the lime juice, vodka, and ginger kombucha to two glasses filled with ice cubes. Stir carefully and serve with mint and cucumber slices. Start with 200 ml of kombucha and add more if needed until the ratio of ginger, lime, and vodka suits your taste.

Cheers!

Summary: Four kombucha summer drinks to make yourself

Whether fruity Sweet Beet, creamy Berry Lemonade Smoothie, spicy Spicy Summer, or Ginger Kombucha Mule: you can mix up a variety of summer drinks with kombucha. The recipes combine the fermented tea drink with juices, berries, spices, or fresh mint. While the first three versions are prepared without any additional added alcohol, the Ginger Kombucha Mule contains vodka. All drinks can be served with ice cubes and customized to personal taste.

Frequently asked questions about kombucha summer drinks

Which ingredients pair well with kombucha?

Kombucha can be combined with many ingredients. Fresh fruit, berries, citrus fruits, ginger, cucumber, and mint pair particularly well with its tart, fresh flavor. Juices and spices are also suitable for creating your own summer drink recipes.

Can I use kombucha as a base for cocktails?

Yes, kombucha can be used as a base or ingredient for cocktails. Its tart aroma, for example, pairs well with lime, ginger, and fresh herbs. For alcoholic recipes, you should keep in mind that in addition to the alcohol from spirits, small amounts of alcohol may also be contained in the kombucha itself.

How can I make kombucha summer drinks less sweet?

You can reduce the proportion of lemonade or fruit juice and use more kombucha, ice, or water instead, provided it suits the recipe. Fresh herbs, cucumber, and lemon or lime juice also add flavor without the need to add additional sugar.

Can I prepare the kombucha drinks in advance?

You can prepare the juices and cut ingredients in advance if needed and store them refrigerated. You should add the kombucha as close to serving as possible so that its carbonation is better preserved. Smoothies taste best freshly prepared. Store prepared mixtures covered in the refrigerator and consume them promptly.

Are kombucha summer drinks alcohol-free?

This depends on the ingredients used and the recipe. The Ginger Kombucha Mule contains vodka and is an alcoholic cocktail. Even kombucha without added alcohol can contain small amounts of alcohol. If you need to avoid alcohol completely, check the information on the product you are using and avoid alcoholic ingredients.
